Practising across devices with Yalaloop

Set up on the big screen, practise wherever your instrument is.

Practice doesn’t happen in one place. I set up loops on my laptop, where the bigger screen makes it easy to drag loop boundaries precisely. Then I practise on my phone with the guitar in my hands, where the laptop would only be in the way. Yalaloop is built for exactly that split: the same app on each device, with your loops, markers, and settings following you.

What syncs, and what stays on your device

When you sign in with a Melody Matrix account and have Premium, Yalaloop syncs your practice data for each track:

• Loops, including their speed and pitch settings
• Markers and their names
• The track’s own speed and pitch

Your audio files don’t sync and are never uploaded. Yalaloop identifies each song from the audio itself, so when you open your copy of the same track on another device, your loops and markers are already there.

Getting the same track on each device

Because audio stays local, each device needs its own copy of the same file — not a re-encoded version in another format. The simplest ways:

• Mac and iPhone/iPad — put the files in iCloud Drive and open them from the Files app.
• Android — copy the files to the device, or open them from a cloud storage app that saves to local storage.
• Purchased music — most download stores, like the iTunes Store, Bandcamp, and Qobuz, let you download your purchases again on every device.

One purchase, every store

Premium is a one-time purchase that covers up to 5 devices. Within one store it follows your Apple ID or Google account automatically. Across stores — an iPhone and an Android tablet, say — sign in to the same Melody Matrix account on each device and Premium unlocks everywhere. See Premium for details.
